Welcome to Australia's largest Stand up Comedy School, The Las Vegas International School of Stand-Up Comedy. Our objective as a professional Stand-up comedy school, is to prepare our graduates for a universal Style of stand-up comedy.
Yes, we realize, other schools primarily teach you a local style of stand-up comedy, which is good, we offer local and national training as well but we also offer International Writing and performance courses as well. For the most part, Australian material and topics don't work well in the UK, USA, Canada etc. Our International writing and Performance course curriculum is designed for the “ wanting to go global’ comedians and not just your local pub or tavern ( which by the way, are great places to fine tune your craft) We’ve created a formula that with a slight tweak, your material will work in Australia or the UK or The USA or Canada or…. Where ever.
No, this isn’t a “we do all the work for you course” and as a Professional School, we don't offer FREE Courses. We will, however, show you the necessary steps to becoming the master creator , universal performer and Fringe and Comedy Festival show promoter. Our schools have produced more Raw Finalist and award winning comics than any other school in the country. We';ve been doing it since 2010.
The school’s founder, Donte D'one, started doing stand up comedy at the ripe olé age of 14 ½ in his hometown of Las Vegas and has over 50+ years of stand up comedy experience.
His early mentors were Jimmy "JJ" Walker (TV Show Goodtimes), Robin Harris (House party movies), Sandy Hackett (Hotdog and Hamburger The Movies), Bob Denver (Gilligan From Gilligan's Island-" he was my next door neighbour" and May May Ali, (Mohammad Ali's daughter) to name a few.
He has performed at The 1st Las Vegas Improv comedy club, (see photo on the right- check out that afro :-) also The Sahara Hotel ( Sandy Hackett's Comedy Room) and The Hilton formerly known as The International Hotel). He has also performed in Los Angeles,(Comedy Store, The Improv, Comedy Act Theatre and in the Long Beach Comedy Festival) San Francisco (Cobbs Comedy Club) in the USA plus Comedy and Fringe Festivals in Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Perth, Sydney and Brisbane.
From 2008-2020 he owned and operated one of Sydney’s longest running Stand-up Comedy Clubs, where funny comics such as Aaron Chen, Tom Cashman, Ray Bradran, Jenni Tian, Kyle Legacy, Matthew Wakefield, Joe Camino, Andrew Hamilton, Katie Burch, Waka and Rhys Nicolson got there early starts in the biz. He promoted the first Houso's, Fat Pizza and Swift and Shift Adelaide Comedy Tour'
He opened his first comedy club in Las Vegas at The California Hotel (Comedy at the Cal) in 1989 and his first Australian Comedy Club in 2008. He launched his first comedy school (Aus comedy school) in 2010; since then, he’s trained over 1600 people in the art of stand-up comedy, in all states in Australia (excluding NT). His Former Aus School of Stand up Comedy has trained more Raw Comedy National Finalist and Award Winning Comedians than any other Australian Comedy School, some of his past award winning students like Katie Burch, Jamal Abdul, Billy Darcy, Waka, Joe White, Michelle Betts, Kabba and Frida Deguise plus others graduates who have gone on to start their own schools (Such as The Sydney Comedy School and School of Hard Knock Knocks), His graduates are the most respected in the industry. Several have performed on AGT (Australia's got talet), 3 of his graduates ( Katie Burch, Billy Darcy and Ivy Latimore) reach the top 5 in TV’s Raw Comedy Finals (They should have won :-) with dozens more reaching the semi-finals. Other graduates have performed on LOL on Prime, TV Commercials, SBS and every single Comedy and Fringe Festival across the country. (Continues below images)

Our school was designed for those that are serious about learning the Universal Art of stand-up comedy. Whether you’re looking to make a career change or looking to do stand up as a serious Hobby, we would love to have you in our next class Or if you’re only looking to dip your toe in or learn the very basics, we suggest purchasing our "Intro To Stand-Up Comedy" online course or Our NEW Open Mic Comedy Preparation Course our Stand up comedy Hand book (15 things to do or consider before getting started) This will save you hundreds of dollars if you decide afterwards, comedy isn't for you. You can also check out the curriculums for one of the other schools on line, such as Sydney Comedy School or School of Hard Knock Knocks in Vic, we recommend these schools because the founders are both former students (From our previous National School the Australian Comedy School), we however don't recommend taking their course, then signing up for one of our complete courses, and visa versa, since they were all former students, no doubt some of our curriculums will be close or similar which means you will probably be repeating some of the same information. We do however offer a separate International Performance and Writing Course for those who already know the local and national basics. This can be added to our regular complete course as an add-on discounted price or if you've already taken a course from the other schools and want to take your performance to another level. If you're really feeling brave, try our New 3 day Complete Crazy Comedy Crash Course, it's not for the faint-hearted. We recommend checking out all the schools curriculums and select what works best for you. Our belief is, professional training anywhere, improves the overall industry everywhere.
